Headache & Migraine Treatment in Gladesville

Rated 5.0 by 100+ locals
Headaches most weeks? They are not something you have to live with.
Recurring headaches wear you down. They interrupt work, cancel plans, and leave you reaching for painkillers that get you through the day without ever changing why it keeps happening.
The good news? A large share of headaches are driven by the neck, the shoulders and the jaw, and that is exactly what hands-on treatment can change. Settle the tension and restore the movement, and the headaches often ease with it.
Our physiotherapists and chiropractors work under one roof in Gladesville, so we can assess what is actually triggering yours and treat it properly.

Headaches, explained
01Why does my neck cause headaches?
The top three joints of the neck share nerve pathways with the head and face, so irritation there is felt as headache rather than neck pain. This is why so many people with recurring headaches have no obvious neck symptoms at all, and why treating the neck can settle a headache pattern that has run for years.
02What sets them off?
Long stretches in one position at a desk or on a phone, stress held through the jaw and shoulders, poor sleep position, and clenching or grinding overnight. Most people have a combination rather than a single trigger, which is why identifying yours matters more than any one treatment.
03What kind of headache do I have?
Worth working out, because it changes the treatment. Tension and cervicogenic headaches build through the day, sit at the base of the skull or across the temples, and respond well to hands-on care. True migraine is a neurological condition and behaves differently, though neck treatment can still reduce how often it is triggered.
- Tension headaches, a band of pressure around the head
- Cervicogenic headaches, starting at the base of the skull
- Postural headaches that build through the working day
- Jaw and TMJ-related pain around the temples
- Migraine, often with light sensitivity and nausea
04When should I see a doctor instead?
Please see your GP first if a headache comes on suddenly and severely, follows a head injury, arrives with fever, a rash, visual changes, confusion or weakness, or is different in character to anything you have had before. Those need medical assessment, not hands-on treatment, and we will say so.

Lasting relief, not endless visits.
The aim is not to book you in every fortnight forever. We work out what is driving your headaches, treat it, and then give you the specific strength work, desk changes and daily habits that keep them from returning. Most people want fewer headaches and fewer appointments, and both are the same goal.
Frequently asked questions
Can physio or chiro actually help headaches?
For headaches driven by the neck, jaw and shoulders, yes, and that covers a large share of recurring headaches. Treatment restores movement and settles the muscle tension referring pain into the head. For migraine, it will not cure the condition, but reducing neck and jaw load can reduce how often you are triggered.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is required. You can book directly with our Gladesville team, simply choose a time that works for you.
How quickly will I notice a difference?
Many people feel some easing after the first session or two, though a pattern that has run for years usually takes longer to change. Your practitioner will give you an honest estimate at your first appointment rather than a number that sounds good.
I clench my jaw. Is that related?
Very often, yes. Clenching and grinding overload the jaw muscles and the upper neck, and both refer pain into the head and temples. If jaw tension is part of your picture we'll assess and treat it rather than working on the neck alone.
Will I need scans?
For the common headache types, generally not. Assessment is based on your history and a physical examination. If anything in your presentation suggests a cause that needs medical investigation, we'll refer you to your GP.
Do you offer health fund rebates?
Yes, we offer on-the-spot rebates for most private health funds. Just bring your card to your appointment and we'll process it instantly, so you only pay the gap.
Where is your clinic?
We're at 74 Morrison Rd, Gladesville NSW 2111, open Monday to Friday 7am to 7pm and Saturday 8am to 12pm.
